So, you need to book a Malta airport transfer to get ready for your next holiday in the Maltese archipelago?
In this Malta Airport Transfer guide, I share all the transport options that can take you from Malta International Airport (the main hub for popular airlines like Ryanair, Lufthansa, Emirates, British Airways, Easyjet and KM Malta Airlines – the local airline that replaced the former Air Malta.) to your place of stay.
I’m familiar with many transfer options since I’ve lived in Malta for many years. So, I’ve got some great tips to share on which options work best for you. As I was initially a budget traveller, I will also share the cheapest way to arrive at your accommodation with ease.
On this page, you can pre-book your Malta airport transfers with the most trusted taxi and shuttle companies for a stress-free trip.

Throughout my years in Malta, I’ve built connections with reliable airport taxi services. This is my recommendation for a reliable and efficient Malta airport transfer.
This private transfer option might be a bit more expensive, but in return, the transfer is much smoother.
Here is what you will get if you book a ride:
Your taxi driver caters for all needs:
The official Maltese regular taxis offer private transfers. They are white with a ‘TAXI’ sign on top.
Here is how to book one:
Tip: Don’t head out of the airport to hail a taxi on the spot: You will pay more that way!
Global and local private companies (Bolt, Uber, eCabs) also offer private transfers. You need to download their app and book your ride, either in advance or upon arrival.
Tip: Pre-booked taxi transfer fares might be slightly higher compared to other taxi companies, but in return, the transfer is much smoother and your driver will be waiting for you no matter what. Also, note that ride-hailing service rates are not fixed and can increase quickly at peak times.

A few companies offer shuttle bus services from Malta International Airport. Taking into consideration that I use this option frequently, here are my pros and cons for each option:
When it comes to affordable transfer options, I always recommend Terravision. Here’s why:
Tip: Note that you’ll need to wait for all passengers to board before leaving the airport. Unlike private vehicles, you will have to share the transport, and the shuttle will make multiple stops at various hotels and accommodations.
Alternatively, Malta International Airport (MLA), the only airport in Malta, offers its own shuttle bus service.
I don’t personally recommend this option, because:
Cost | €2.50/person (night-time fare: €3; multiday cards from €6) |
Availability | From 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. |

The cheapest way for Maltese residents and tourists to get around Malta is by bus. Tickets cost just a few euro and you can easily visit other towns and villages across Malta and Gozo. The main bus stations are in Valletta, Malta, and Victoria, Gozo.
Tip: Download the Malta Public Transport app to access full bus timetables and timings (available on both the App Store & Google Play Store). You can also access handy tools such as the online Journey Planner.
The best option for airport transfers in Malta depends on your budget and needs. For a quick and smooth transfer, taxis are the best, but if you are looking for cheaper alternatives, consider shuttle buses and public buses. To discover the archipelago with maximum flexibility, consider renting a car.
A taxi from Malta Airport typically starts from €25. I can’t give you fixed rates since they can vary depending on your destination, the number of passengers and if you have one suitcase or more. For a more accurate estimate, check the table on this page.
