However, keep in mind that to leave the airport, you will need to wait till all the other passengers have arrived and gotten on the bus. The shuttle bus will stop at various hotels and places of stay, adding to the travel time.

The public bus, operated by Malta Public Transport, is undoubtedly the cheapest way to get to Buġibba from Malta International Airport.
Buying bus tickets is an easy process and can be made in a few different ways:
Route X3 is the direct one from Malta International Airport to Buġibba and back. It leaves the airport once an hour between 5:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m., meaning you need to expect some waiting time.
The X3 goes all around Buġibba so you are most likely to go down at a bus stop very close to your accommodation.
Alternatively, you can also take route X1 and stop at Kennedy (a bus stop located at the entrance of Buġibba). The journey by bus takes around 55 minutes. Then, you will need to walk for 10/15 minutes according to your accommodation location. Only consider it if you are travelling light!

Feeling like being on your own and discovering Malta in a flexible way and at your own pace? Then a rental car is the answer. If you rent one, you don’t need to book a transfer or take a bus.
To get to Buġibba from the airport, you have four different options: taxi, shuttle, public bus or car rental. Opting for a taxi is the best option as the journey lasts up to 35 minutes and you are dropped off at the door of your hotel. Alternatively, taking the bus X3 is the cheapest way to get to Buġibba.

The transfer from Malta Airport to Buġibba takes 30-35 minutes by taxi or self-drive vehicle, at least 1 hour by shuttle and 1h15/1h30 by public transport.
The airport bus ticket in Malta costs €2.50 (€3 by night) for a single journey, making it the most economical way to get from Malta Airport to Buġibba.
You can buy bus tickets at the Malta Public Transport outlet situated in the arrival halls of Malta International Airport, or at the dispensing machine in front of the outlet. Other airport outlets also sell bus tickets. Alternatively, bus tickets can be purchased when boarding the bus.
Buġibba is about 20 km from Malta Airport. By taxi or self-drive car, the trip takes around 30 minutes, while by shuttle service, it takes at least one hour and about 1 hour and 20 minutes by bus.
