A Choral Concert by the Corfu Choir

The Ministry of Tourism and Culture will be hosting a delegation of Corfiots in Malta next month. The delegation includes the Corfu Choir and distinguished Maltese-Corfiot guests.

For this occasion, the Corfu Choir, under the music direction of Mro Lefteris Spinoulas, will be presenting a Choral Concert on Saturday, 4th March 2006 at 6.30pm at St Paul’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral, Valletta. The concert is being held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts.

The Corfu Choir will sing Greek Orthodox, sacred and secular works for choir, soloists, flute and piano. The choir will be accompanied on the piano by Lina Katopodi-Spinoula. The general public is invited to attend and entrance is free.

Founded in 1980, the Corfu Choir aims to preserve the rich musical tradition of the island as well as cultivating and spreading the choral arts. The choir performed in many European concert tours, namely Italy, France, Bulgaria, Holland, Hungary, Great Britain, Austria, Czech Republic, Cyprus and in USA. The Corfu Choir has also participated in international choir festivals and competitions, and had the opportunity to perform for Pope John Paul II in Rome. Their repertoire includes Baroque, Classical and Romantic music.
